May 2 v. Oakland

There are only so many ways to say that Glenn Geffner lacks the chops to be a big league announcer. Even so, I said it again

Really, it's annoying habit that Geffner has, to tell us about the batter that was just up in order to exhaust his note card information.

When Joe is back on the call and the tone of the broadcast changes from eager look-ma-I'm-on-the-radio to "hey friends, here's the Red Sox Game"

A footnote from the May 1 game (blown save by Papelbon). The 9th was called by Joe C.
Geffner did not make a noise. I thought maybe he had to leave for his other job catering the post game spread in the A's clubhouse. But, with the unexpected tie of the game, Geffner was on the call in the 10th, reading the lame Dunkin Donuts extra innings copy (just like Trup) with minimal input from Joe. To state the obvious, there is a weird dynamic in the call, having little to do with Geffner's lack of skill.
