I hope things are looking up, but we've got a big, dark cloud looming on the horizon: If the Red Sox make it to the ALCS, then we've got to deal with Glenn Geffner. And if the Sox prevail and go to the World Series, it's Geffner again. If that's the case, I'll listen to ESPNRadio before I listen to Geffner. One thing about the World Series... In 2004 I remember the games being broadcast only on WEEI. I wonder if they'll do that again this year. I hope not. The ALDS and ALCS were played over the entire network, but ESPNRadio was on the affiliates during the WS. I'm pretty sure my radio can pick up 680 and 850.
A gift from my spell-checker: When I sent an email with the word Geffner in it, my spell checker suggested an alternate spelling: "Schaffner"I looked it up in wiki and found a few famous people with that name(actor, politician, author), but the irony is too great here. I prefer the easier spelling Shaftner, though.Say it out loud. 2007, the year we got Shaftnerred.
"In 2004 I remember the games being broadcast only on WEEI. I wonder if they'll do that again this year. I hope not."ESPN Radio has exclusivity for the World Series so only the home markets can get the local broadcasts. If the Sox make it to the WS, the Red Sox will only be available on WRKO/WEEI.
