MLB Network Fails To Improve

All right, I was taken to task by some "anonymous" emailers for my criticism of the MLB Network, so I gave it a few more days without reflexively bashing it here.

So, now I'm back to writing about it, and it is a downright embarassment. It's boring, superficial and never seems to want to take on the tough topics (leaving aside the PSA that runs constantly about steroids with some sculpture's arms, legs and pedingus dropping off due to steriods.)

Case in point: the Hall of Fame Announcement. It was riveting TV to see Joe Castig's former statboy Jeff Idelson reading (poorly) the two honorees.

Later that night, there was the Baseball Tonight show or whatever they call it. As usual, there were the heavy hitters: Harry Reynolds Barry Larkin, Verducci and Heyman. For 20 minutes the roundtable consisted of these people answering the following two questions, in turn, over and over again:

1. Who didn't vote for Rickey henderson?
2. Why did it take so long for Jim Rice to get in?
3. Does Jim Rice deserve it?
4. Go back to question 1.

About all I learned was that Barry Larkin wants to get in the HOF when he is eligible next year. Good luck, bro.

They featured pretaped PHONE interview with Jim Rice (weak), and couldn't even get a one-on-one with Rickey. They simply played the tape from his conference call with reporters. You'd think MLBN, being part of MLB after all could find these guys for a live video feed.

Then, there was another roundtable involving Harry Reynolds, Al Leiter, Barry Larkin and Jimmy Rollins.

About all I learned was that Barry Larkins wants to get in the HOF when he is eligible next year. Good luck, bro. Also that Rollins acted out a poor imitation of Rickey on the fake studio ballfield.

It really is horrendous and embarassing.

And boring beyond description.

did you watch the next day when Hot Stove had Rickey Henderson in Studio 42 for an interview then a separate Demo on stealing bases? What about the day after that when Jim Rice was in studio?
I guess you didn't watch those days.
