* Tom Brewer was a pretty good pitcher
who played for some horrific teams
(Boston Red Sox) in the 50's.
I attended the last game he ever
pitched on September 27, 1961.
He was the starter, and as I recall,
walked off the mound in the middle
of the 2nd inning, never to pitch again.

Oddly, I cannot find any reference to it in a search.
